The Up Swing

Thank you guys for all the kind words from my little emotional down turn of last week. I do really appreciate all your wonderful comments. And because you are always here, even in bad time, I wanted you to be in on the good ones too. I got a promotion at work yesterday. WOOT!! WOOT!!!

365.11 - All Smiles

I am not an overly positive person. It actually takes me quite a bit of mental work to see the good side of things (I think its genetic) but I do try. People always think I am happy because I smile a lot, so when I am not smiling people think Armageddon is not far behind. So the past few days has not only bummed me out but has also impacted those around me.

So I decided to “put on my big girl panties”, suck it up, and pull myself out of my funk by thinking of good things and good reasons why these seemingly bad things were happening to me. And when you look hard enough, you can find the good in everything. And when you emerge from the storm and look back on the said bad things , you may find that they have led you to the good thing you didn’t even know you were headed for. It also makes you appreciate that good thing even more when you get it.

So since I love quotes here are a few to keep you going this week:

“You’ve got a lot of choices. If getting out of bed in the morning is a chore and you’re not smiling on a regular basis, try another choice.”
~Steven D. Woodhull

“God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it’s me.”
~Author unknown, variation of an excerpt from “The Serenity Prayer” by Reinhold Neibuhr

“People are like holidays. Do others see you as Christmas, or more like Tax Day?”
~Ward Elliot Hour

  1. Congratulations on the promotion!

I admire your decision to move ahead and seek the good. I doesn’t change those bad things that you are going through, but it does help to not wallow too much. Life is so much about choices. You’re choosing wisely.

  2. GURL!!! I “knew” you were over here updating and was wondering why you were so quiet!!

Apparently “somebody” (me!) didn’t update her feeds!! Ugh!!

Congratulations on getting out of your funk & your promotion!!!! :o)

  3. Yay for your promotion! I hope that big smile stays on your face for a good long time. I also tend to want to wallow when feeling bad. When that happened as a kid and mopey teen, my mom would always tell me “Snap out of it! Go take a shower, you’ll feel better”. I always hated when she told me this, but I would take a shower and darn it if I didn’t feel better afterwards.

  4. I have just been introduced to your blog and it has inspired me to make one of my own. I love the two quotes by Reinholod & W.E. Hour that you posted. I have recently lost my job and it is so true what you said, “when you emerge from the storm & look back on the bad things, you may find that they have led you to the good thing….” I have recently interviewed for a position that I think it would be the perfect fit for me!!!!! I will find out this Friday or Monday if I got the job. I also congratulate you on your promotion!!!!!Well enough about me, I love your First Serged Pillow and corsage pincushion. They are so adorable and beautiful. I too love to make pillows and love to shop for fabric. Now that I have a little bit more time on my hands, (while still looking for employment) I plan on starting my projects once again. It has been a long time since I picked up my crochet needle or sewed pillows. I need to dust off my sewing machine and get back to work.

Thanks for being a part of my inspiration.
    Veronica
